課程概述

一、課程簡介:
「社會情緒發展」為大學部同學上完「發展心理學」後的一門進階課程,其主要目的除了讓學生能對「發展心理學」中所談到的諸多與個體人格、動機、情緒、及各種人際關係發展有關之主題有更深一層的認識之外,也欲藉著上台報告、討論、書面報告等活動訓練學生思考、推理、批判、與表達的能力。

二、課堂要求:
1.Weekly reading assignment:
One chapter from Schaffer (2000) / per week

Textbook: David R. Shaffer (2000). Social and Personality Development, 4th Ed. Wadsworth.

2.Oral report:
You can choose one of the topics suggested by the teacher or preferably you can choose your own topic. You should read at least 5 articles concerning that topic and then give a one-hour lecture to the class on that topic.

3.Term paper:
At least 3000 words. Hand it in within two weeks after you have given your presentation. The topic of the paper should correspond with your lecture. A pure summary on the content of some articles will NOT be acceptable. You should tell your own story and generate some creative ideas based upon the articles you have read. Each report will be graded both by its content and its structure. TYPE this paper.

4.Self-review paper:
In addition to your term paper, you need to write a short critique (600 words) about your own presentation. After your presentation, the class audience will ask you questions and make some comment about your presentation. Also, your presentation will be filmed. Within one week after your presentation, contact my research assistant and schedule a time with her to watch your own presentation on TV. Use the above information to write this article about how you think you`ll improve if you have a second chance to do it all over again. TYPE this paper.

5.Examinations:
I will give two examinations to cover all the content talked in the class. I will give you the question-pool one week before the exam. and the exam. questions will be drawn from the question-pool.
